Six-time Grammy Award-winning music artist David Bowie has created an incredible legacy. His notable hits like “Under Pressure,” “Starman,” “Heroes,” and “Rebel Rebel,” among others, have dominated the airwaves during their prime and resonated well with listeners. His unprecedented career has made him one of the most influential singer-songwriters of the 20th century. Emerging in 1963 from London, England, Bowie entered the music industry with the debut single, “Liza Jane.” At the time, he performed with his backup band, King Bees. Bowie dropped several non-album singles in the following years until he finally made a phenomenal breakthrough in 1969. Bowie released one of his career’s biggest singles, “Space Oddity.” The song dominated the U.K. chart and debuted at number 15 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. After gaining an international spotlight, Bowie dropped several career-defining albums, including the rock opera effort Ziggy Stardust.
Bowie’s five-decade career has produced 26 studio albums and released over 120 singles. He has won six Grammy Awards, four Brit Awards, a Daytime Emmy Award, and four MTV Video Music Awards. Besides music, Bowie has also appeared in feature films and television series. In 1996, he starred as Andy Warhol in the biographical drama film Basquiat. Bowie was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame the same year.
This 2023, Celebrating David Bowie makes its return with a phenomenal line-up. The band will be led by singer Peter Murphy, progressive rock icon Adrian Belew, rocker and producer Scrote, Spacehog’s Royston Landon, and acclaimed guitarist Eric Schermerhorn. The band will also feature other notable musicians and members from renowned bands, such as esteemed saxophonist Ron Dziubla and A Perfect Circle’s Jeff Friedl and Matt McJunkins.
