Los Fabulosos Cadillacs are now in their 38th year. The band emerged in 1985 from Buenos Aires, Argentina. Co-founders singer Gabriel Julio Fernández Capello or more popularly known by his stage name, Vicentico, and bassist Sr. Flavio Cianciarulo started the band with one aim in mind – to showcase the band’s versatility through various mixes of sounds ranging from ska, mambo, reggae, funk, and samba. Los Fabulosos Cadillacs’ lyrics are often written with political undertones, with Vicentico and Sr. Flavio doing most of the writing.
On Tuesday, 26th September 2023, at the Texas Trus CU Theatre, the band is set to deliver their career-spanning hits. Los Fabulosos Cadillacs’ 38-year career has resulted in a stellar reputation as one of the world’s best Latin rock groups. The eight-member band has also received numerous accolades for their exemplary work. In 1994, their biggest hit single, “El Matador,” won the MTV Latino Video Music Award. The song was later featured in several feature film official soundtracks, such as The Matador, Grosse Pointe Blank, and Savages. 1998, they won the Grammy Award for Best Latin Rock/Alternative Album. Two years later, they were nominated for Best Band and Best Music Video at the Latin Grammy Awards.
Los Fabulosos Cadillacs’ commercial success paved the way for other Latin acts to also break out into the international scene. One of their most notable accomplishments includes being featured in MTV Unplugged - Los Fabulosos Cadillacs was the first Argentinian and Latin-speaking band to perform in the series.
