Texas Trust CU Theatre at Grand Prairie
Save the Date - Saturday, November 14, 2026 for Real Mariachi at the Texas Trust CU Theatre! These 2 groups are performing hard-hitting traditional mariachi songs to traditional mariachi music. The oldest established mariachi group in the world, founded in 1897, Mariachi Vargas De Tecalitlan, will be joined on stage by Nuevo Tecatitlan Mariachi.
Expect both of these groups to showcase some of their own tracks. Of course, those are going to be mixed with songs like El Mariachi Loco or El Son de la Negra. When you're missing home, there's nothing like a good mariachi performance to connect to the source, if you will. This showcase features the very best mariachi in the world, "¡El Vargas Si Señor!" They're joined by Nuevo Tecatitlan, which is an ensemble that's grown beside Mariachi Vargas pretty much. You could say that Mariachazo is hands down the best mariachi show on the road. Saturday 14th November, 2016 we feature the greatest of Mexico's Mariachi music when not one but two of the world's greatest ensembles, two of the worlds greatest Mariachi collectives, Mariachi Vargas De Tecalitlan and a special performance by the highly acclaimed Nuevo Tecatitlan Mariachi, will perform at the Texas Trust CU theater in Grand Prairie.
Mariachi Vargas De Tecalitlan is living history. They are the greatest and oldest Mariachi in the world. They were founded in 1897 and have been shaping the world of Mariachi ever since. They will be performing some of the most time honored songs in Mariachi history. Including "La Negra", "El Son de la Negra" and "Guadalajara". These songs will be performed to perfection by the very skilled musicians. Mariachi Vargas has played with many famous artists including Frank Sinatra, Juan Gabriel, Jenni Rivera. They have also appeared on over 200 recordings. They have been nominated for several Grammy Awards. They continue to perform the traditional style of Mariachi while also incorporating modern style to keep their music current for the younger generations.
Nuevo Tecatitlan Mariachi is the second group to be featured at the Mariachazo event. This Mariachi is currently playing traditional and modern mariachi pieces. The two young musicians have a lot of energy and are truly masters of their music. They can play old classics with a new touch and make sure that the style of the song is maintained. In their shows they play songs that have touched the hearts of the people and have been loved by crowds all over the decades.
The Texas Trust CU Theater Grand Prairie is an 6,300-seat state-of-the-art Venue, designed with superb seating throughout to get the best seat in the house wherever you are sitting in this compact theater.
