Texas Trust CU Theatre at Grand Prairie
Four icons of Mexican Regional music are back with their Palomazo Norteño show. They'll be taking over the Texas Trust CU Theatre in Grand Prairie to sing to everyone in North Texas on Saturday, September 6th. It's a great opportunity to come out and hear iconic songs that have made history in Norteño music, performed by the actual singers who made them famous. The way they set up this show also adds to the experience, for sure.
It's the 4 of them at a table having some drinks and taking song requests from the crowd. The experience is like being at a family carne asada where your uncles want to turn on the karaoke machine once they've had a few. What's different here is that those uncles can actually sing really well! The entire show has a sense of familiarity that you just won't find from modern performers. Hit that get tickets button now if you want to be a part of the Palomazo Norteño experience.
Every single time that Lalo Mora, Eliseo Robles, Rosendo Cantú, and Raúl Hernández announce a new slate of concerts, fans just grin from ear to ear. You have to think that at some point, not very far down the road, one or multiple members of the group are going to announce that they're done. The concept in this format, though, is still an amazing show filled with nostalgia, with some true legends of the genre. You don't want to miss this September stop in Grand Prairie, it promises to be epic. Let's face it, every time these guys sit at that table again, you know you're in for a good time.
You've got four legends of the norteño banda genre. In many cases, these guys built the genre that we know today. Also, there's a sense of being macho that Lalo Mora, Eliseo Robles, Rosendo Cantú, and Raúl Hernández bring to the stage that you just don't get with the modern performers. The fact that they sit at a table and drink up as they play iconic tracks like "Los Dos Amigos" or "El Rey de Mil Coronas," adds to the vibe. They can bring that "macho" presence to the theater because they're from another time in a way that maybe audiences wouldn't appreciate from modern performers. Again, you better catch this show because we're going to miss it when it's gone.
Usually, the advice at the Texas Trust CU Theatre is to find a spot in one of the upper levels. Those front rows in between sections have a lot more room. In this case, though, you'll want to be close to the stage just to see who Lalo Mora is picking on and what's happening. That banter is as much a part of the experience as the music!
